About the Image Resizer
Need a photo at an exact size for a form, a profile picture, an email or a website? This image resizer changes the width and height of a JPG, PNG or WebP image, or scales it by a percentage. It runs entirely in your browser, so the picture stays private, and it shows the new size before you download.
When you lock the aspect ratio, changing the width updates the height so the picture keeps its proportions: new height = new width × original height ÷ original width. Percent mode multiplies both sides by the same factor. Sizes are rounded to whole pixels, and a side can be up to 16,384 pixels long.
To save memory on large photos, the browser scales the image while decoding it and then draws it onto a canvas of the exact target size, using high-quality smoothing. The canvas is saved as JPG, PNG or WebP. JPG and WebP use the quality slider, while PNG is lossless. Photo rotation stored by your camera is applied automatically. Making an image much larger than the original cannot add detail, so enlarged pictures can look soft.
Frequently asked questions
How do I keep the picture from looking stretched?
Leave 'Lock aspect ratio' ticked. When you change one side, the other updates automatically to keep the proportions.
Does resizing reduce the file size?
Usually, yes. Fewer pixels mean a smaller file. For the smallest result, also use a lower quality or the WebP format.
Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, but it will not gain detail, so it may look blurry. It is best to start from the largest original you have.
Which formats are supported?
You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files. The result can be saved as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Is my image sent to a server?
No. Resizing happens on your device and nothing is uploaded.
