About the QR Code Generator
Create a QR code for a web address, a message or your Wi-Fi network in a few seconds. Type your link or text, choose a size and colours, and download the code as a PNG for screens and print, or as an SVG that stays sharp at any size. The code is generated in your browser, so your links and passwords stay private.
A QR code stores your text as a grid of dark and light squares called modules. The qrcode library picks the smallest grid that fits your data and adds error correction, which lets the code still scan if part of it is dirty or covered. Higher levels, from Low (7 percent) to High (30 percent), recover more damage but make the code denser.
In Wi-Fi mode, the details are turned into the standard text WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;; that phones recognise and use to join the network. Characters such as semicolons and colons are escaped with a backslash. For reliable scanning, use a dark code on a light background, keep the quiet margin around the code, and print it at least 2 cm wide. The tool warns you when your colours have too little contrast.
Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes expire?
No. A code made here simply contains your text, so it works as long as the link or information it points to still exists.
How do I make a Wi-Fi QR code?
Choose Wi-Fi network, enter the network name and password, and pick the security type. Phones can scan the code to join without typing the password.
Which error correction level should I pick?
Medium suits most uses. Choose High if the code will be printed on something that can get scratched, or if you add a logo over it.
Why will my code not scan?
Common causes are low contrast, a light code on a dark background, too small a print size, or no margin around the code.
Is my information stored or sent anywhere?
No. The code is created in your browser and what you type is never uploaded.
